Right, nao I'm back, I'll tell you what happened during my week in Prague. NO COMPLAINING if it's too tl;dr. I went with my mum and my aunt.
3rd July 2009 - Day 1Arrived in Prague on the plane. Flying is fuuun, except when your ears pop. Eh, anyway, got to the apartment I would be staying in for the week, dropped off the bags, and had a sit down.
Then we went for a general wander around Prague to get our bearings. Went across the Charles Bridge (the oldest bridge in Prague), then stopped for a drink. When we got going again, we stopped outside a restaurant. I must be pretty damn attractive, cos I (unintentionally) caught the eye of one of the waiters, and he asked me for a kiss. I said "Maybe later" and resumed my wander around Prague. When we headed back, the guy who I caught the eye of never showed. Men. Typical.
Aside from that, I noticed that the people of Prague drive on the right-hand side of the road. My mum was like "OMG THEY DRIVE ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD!" but that's just her I guess!
That night, we had ouer dinner at the George and Dragon (an English bar) and watched the Wimbledon semi-finals. Andy Murray lost. Gutted.
4th July 2009 - Day 2 - Also USA Independence DayOur plan was to go the National Museum, which is actually one of the places they filmed Casino Royale (the James Bond film, the one with Daniel Craig in it). Instead we detoured to the Choco Story Museum (yes, a CHOCOLATE MUSEUM) where we got free rock and chocolate samples. Which was moar awesome.
Had lunch at TGI Friday's, and my aunt dropped in the quote "Don't you just love air con?" (it was a hot day). After that we walked a bit, abandoning our original plan to go to the National Museum.
I was feeling rather charitable, so I paid 100 Czech crowns (around £3.30, assuming it's 30 Czech crowns to £1) to paint a brick for a charity that assisted mentally handicapped people. Whilst I painted, it rained. And I got wet. Verrry wet. And did I complain? No! The rain was in fact a good relief from the hot sun. When I finished painting, me and my travel partners took shelter by a shop called Storm. Talk about a coincidence!
Then after the rain died down, we headed back to the apartment, but we stopped at the Restaurace U Supa for a drink, and they served BIG THICK SLABS of PROPER JAFFA CAKE. Nom nom nom! And yush, I had a slice of it.
That night, I argued with my aunt on Twitter (You asks why, I says because I did). There was only a room separating us, but hey, it's entertainment. Then we took a break and watched dog sports (well when most of the channels are in Czech, it's surprising what you'll watch on TV!). And back to the arguments on Twitter, until we both tired.5th July 2009 - Day 3Looked bad. Probably gonna rain. But our plan was to go to the Jewish Quarter of Prague and admire synagogues. But before we did, we had lunch at the Café U Tyna. Then I lol'd at my mum spilling her drink (she was even wearing a white top!), and yet she told me not to spill anything! HAHAHAHA!!!
Aaaaaanyway, we first looked round the Jewish Museum, where they had beautiful embroidered cloth and some beautiful silverware. Then we went round the Pinkas Synagogue, where they have the names of the 70,000 Holocaust victims from Prague written on the walls. It was a very poignant sight, and it also highlights how devastating the Holocaust actually was. Then to the Jewish Cemetery, which was piled high with bodies (this is becuase there are loads of people buried there). Then we looked round the Spanish Synagogue "the most beautiful synagogue in Europe" and I think it was beautiful.
Had our dinner at Caffrey's Irish Bar.6th July 2009 - Day 4We planned to do a bus tour, but we did a vintage car tour instead, which was moar awesome. The tour stopped at Prague Castle, which was great and had some really nice views of the city.
After that, we headed to the National Museum (no we'd not abandoned it completely!), but stopped for drinks at the Café Boulevard first. Went round the museum, then went back to the apartment.7th July 2009 - Day 5 - Also Anniversary of the London Underground BombingsPlans for an easy day today (the previous 4 days were mega tiring!). We had lunch at this place called Kamenný stul (DON'T ASK how to pronounce it, I dunno), and I had traditional Czech goulash there. Which was tasteh.
Then we went to the Hard Rock Café (well, only me and my aunt) to have a look round. Yush, we'll come back here...
Went to have dinner at Caffrey's Irish Bar, our favourite Prague hangout.8th July 2009 - Day 6Planning to do another general wander, so that's what we did. Had our lunch at Les Moules first though.
Then, whilst my aunt wandered round other parts of Prague, me and my mum headed back to Caffrey's Irish Bar and nommed Baileys cheesecake (Baileys as in the Irish Cream stuff, that is).9th July 2009 - Day 7Ah, the day when I eat at the Hard Rock Café! Planned to have lunch there, and that's what we did! It was really nice though.
Then guess where we stopped before going back to the apartment? Yes! Caffrey's Irish Bar!10th July 2009 - Day of DeparturePretty uneventful until we went to Prague Airport to take the plane back to the UK. And yush, flying is still fuuuun.
So thar you has it. The summary of mai hols. XD Read and enjoy.
